Built-in and external cameras
Use your device’s cameras, supported USB cameras on iPad, or Accsoon SeeMo sources. Available formats and simultaneous camera combinations depend on your hardware.
Explore SwitchEffect
Switch, compose, cue, automate, record, and stream from your iPhone or iPad. Explore the tools that turn a collection of sources into a show.
01 / Sources & media
Build a production from the cameras, files, and feeds you already have.
Use your device’s cameras, supported USB cameras on iPad, or Accsoon SeeMo sources. Available formats and simultaneous camera combinations depend on your hardware.
Add an iPhone, iPad, or Mac over your local network with SwitchEffect Camera.
Bring in supported RTSP, SRT, and RTMP streams.
Use PDFs, image slideshows, and web pages as inputs. Put a presentation or browser-based graphic into the same production as your cameras.
Prepare stills and clips, then cue and play video from independent decks. Auto Roll can start a prepared deck when it becomes visible on Program.
Create animated backgrounds or choose solid colors, black, and color bars as production sources.
Adjust supported camera controls from the production workspace. Available zoom, focus, exposure, and white balance controls depend on the camera and source.
Choose Fill, Fit, or Fit with Blurred Background for supported inputs. Keep the whole image visible or fill the canvas to suit the shot.
02 / Picture & composition
Go from a clean camera cut to a composed, layered scene.
Prepare the next source on Preview, then use Cut or Auto to take it to Program. Select transition styles and rates for the moment.
Choose Mix, Dip, Wipe, Sting, or DVE transitions. Use Fade to Black to close a segment or return from black.
Arrange multiple sources in a composition and recall saved layouts. Use presets to move between an interview, panel, or picture-in-picture view.
Layer graphics and video into your composition. Use fill/key, luma, chroma, or DVE controls where supported by the selected keyer.
Reframe an eligible input with Punch In, Punch Out, or a toggle. Choose zoom and duration, with optional automatic face framing; the change follows the input wherever it appears in the show.
Draw over your production to highlight a detail, explain a play, or guide a demonstration. Undo, redo, and clear the drawing as you present.
03 / Run of Show
Build a rundown of named cues so the next production move is ready before you need it. A cue can combine actions such as selecting a camera, recalling a SuperScene, showing a graphic, playing a clip, or starting an output.
Create lower thirds, messages, countdowns, and other show graphics. Use groups and layers to organize them, then rehearse the sequence before going live.
Run cues on screen, advance with Shortcuts, or trigger a named cue over OSC or MCP. Macros handle repeatable control sequences; cues organize those moves into the flow of an event.
Advance a show with ShortcutsExample rundown
Host camera + lower third
Recall a SuperScene + show names
Play a prepared clip + select its source
Return to camera + clear the graphic
An illustrative sequence you can build for your own event.
04 / Sound
Keep speech, playback, and camera audio working together.
Balance available microphone and source audio with channel and master controls. Choose which sources stay on, stay off, or follow the picture.
Let a source’s audio follow its visibility on Program, including sources within a composition. Keep microphones on independently when the conversation should continue across shots.
Use separate microphone channels to drive camera changes. Configure rules for individual speakers, overlapping conversation, and silence.
Use systems such as RØDE Wireless Micro or DJI Mic 3 when configured to provide separate microphone channels to SwitchEffect.
05 / Automations & control
Use the control surface that suits the production.
Build a personal shortcut to advance a cue, take a transition, create a title, mute audio, or change framing. Assign a shortcut to the iPhone Action Button on supported devices. Explore Shortcuts →
Send production commands from an OSC controller over your local network. Address transitions, source routing, macros, layouts, cues, and more. Read the OSC guide →
Connect a compatible AI client to inspect sources and production state. Grant production control and recording/streaming permissions separately. Connect an MCP client →
Let compatible ATEM controllers connect to SwitchEffect and operate its supported switcher controls, with state and tally feedback. How ATEM control works →
Use a compatible routing client to select sources for Auxiliary 1 or assign the Program and Preview buses. How Videohub routing works →
Record and replay repeatable switcher operations. Run a macro directly, from a cue, or through supported automation controls, with pauses and user waits where your sequence needs them.
Arrange production controls into pages and panels that match your show. Keep the tools you need together and leave other sections out of the way.
06 / Monitoring & output
Watch the production and choose where it goes.
Watch sources, Preview, and Program together. Configure multiview layouts, labels, tally, meters, and guides for the way you work.
Choose a source for an auxiliary output. Send a clean view to a supported external display, or use a multiview to monitor the production.
Record your Program output and configure a live streaming destination. Prepare service settings before starting; supported output options depend on your configuration and device.
Check production performance and thermal conditions, then adjust active sources and output settings when needed. Performance and cooling guide →
Prepare source assignments, controls, layouts, and shows before going live. Rehearse supported cues and graphics while the switcher is stopped.
Reduce accidental changes in the interface. Choose separately which automation tools may still make changes while View Only Mode is enabled.
